In 2015 Olam acquired SAIC, a crumb rubber processing facility in Aniassué, Côte d’Ivoire.
The team sources the raw material from rubber plantations owned by approximately 2,000 smallholder farmers and members of cooperatives.
Under the commercial names SAC10 and SAC20, we provide customers with 2 grades of top quality Technically Specified Rubber that meet stringent criteria. Our products are manufactured from naturally coagulated, or cup lump rubber.
As part of our commitement to grow and to support farmer livelihoods, we are mapping our smallholder rubber suppliers in Côte d'Ivoire using the Olam Farmer Information System (OFIS).

Quick Facts
We plot GPS maps of individual smallholdings, showing the number of trees, their age and other agri related information. In addition, social factors are recorded for example the number of workers, children, distance from a school and medical facilities, and availability of drinking water. Not only can we tailor advice to improve yields, we can also help to minimise environmental impact, improve livelihoods and mitigate social risks. OFIS can estimate the future production growth from a region, predict the properties of the harvested latex, and allow us to help farmers to take precautions to prevent diseases.
We offer other support by supplying quality tapping kits for harvesting. We are also helping local women to establish their own business providing nutritious food to our workers. In addition, we are exploring the possibilities of negotiating the lowest premium rates for group health insurance for farmers and a mobile money service for direct payment.
