Since then Olam has steadily grown into an influential player within Cameroon’s agri-business and food sectors, with expanding investments across our cocoa and coffee, grains, and rice businesses spread across all 10 regions of the country.
In cocoa and coffee, we aim to be the preferred buyer of farmers in all producing regions, supporting many. In addition to being a key government partner in all efforts aimed at increasing the value of Cameroonian cocoa and coffee in the international market, we also operate one of the biggest cocoa and coffee primary processing plants – USICAM, where we dry, grade and export cocoa and coffee beans.
Our grains team manages Cameroon’s most ultra-modern wheat milling plant, producing a range of flour brands (Bijou) that serve bakeries and homes across the national triangle. The plant’s technology and safety standards have successfully positioned Olam as one of the top flour millers and suppliers in Cameroon within just 4 years of operations.
Child labour monitoring and remediation is set to be rolled out across Cameroon in the first programme of its kind by a cocoa company.
As market leader of rice supply in Cameroon, Olam is playing a vital role of supporting Cameroon’s food security efforts. We provide Cameroonians nationwide with the best quality of a wide variety of rice grades at affordable prices. Our flagship brands Riz Mémé and Riz Bijou are amongst the most recognisable brands. From 2012-2016 the Olam Cameroon Rice Team saved over 50 million servings of rice by adopting simple protocols to reduce food losses across the segments of the supply chain under their control.
