Vietnam is the third-largest exporter of rice globally with an increased focus on supplying high quality and sustainable rice to developed markets. We’re among the top two private buyers from Vietnam, and our operations span sourcing through to milling.
We’re spearheading the biggest private rice sustainability project in the country under Sustainable Rice Platform. The project – Better Rice Initiative Asia Phase II (BRIA 2) – targets onboarding 10,000 smallholders by 2022 to deliver fully audited and certified sustainable rice.
At the other end of the process, our mill in Long An province is one of the most advanced in the country. It’s BRC A certified with a capacity of over 100,000 tonnes per year.

Through Olam Group company ofi, we’re the largest exporter of soluble coffee from Vietnam. We also process a variety of nuts for snacking, ingredients and culinary use. Our spices portfolio is broad, with our pepper plantation and processing operation forming a major part of our offering.
Vietnamese coffee farmers working with Olam have seen water consumption on their farms drop by 33% following the installation in 2016 of six pilot irrigation systems which contributes to a significant drop in production costs.
