Olam features in Ethical Corporation’s Responsible Business Summit Asia report

Following its active participation in Ethical Corporation’s 2015 Responsible Business Summit Asia held last May, Olam International has been featured in the summit’s post-conference report.

As a leading platform for professional working in sustainability, ethics and communications, the two-day summit held in Singapore saw participants take on issues such as business strategy and innovation, moving beyond auditing in the supply chain, internal and external communications and the challenges and opportunities surrounding organisational culture and buy in.

Briony Mathieson, Olam’s Head of Corporate & Sustainability Communications, took part in a panel discussion on sustainability reporting, along with Janice Lao, Sustainability Manager at MTR Corporation. Briony’s views on how to undertake internal communication on sustainability, including a rundown on the list of what not to do; such as using jargon or being too religious about sustainability rather than concentrating on meeting the needs of the other, was cited in the report. She also shared how internal communication methods adopted by Olam centre on functions operating not sustainably but “responsibly”.
