    Olam represented at annual United Nations Climate Change Conference, COP22

    For the second year running, Olam will be represented at the annual United Nations Climate Change Conference.

    Olam CEO Sunny Verghese spoke on ‘Food security in a new climate regime’ at last year’s COP21 in Paris. Chris Brown, Olam’s Vice President for CR&S, was also at COP21 and has been invited to speak at COP22 in Marrakesh, Morocco next week.

    He will be in two sessions of the Global Landscapes Forum on November 16 in the COP22 Blue Zone:

    Mitigation and Climate Smart Agriculture’ panel – Chris will be talking about scaling up ‘climate smart agriculture’ delivery through smallholder partnerships. Others in the session include Diane Holdorf, Chief Sustainability Officer, Kellogg Company and Abbie Reynolds, Executive Director, Sustainable Business New Zealand.

    Climate, business and landscapes: Mobilising large-scale investment for smallholder farmers.’ Others in the group include Richard McNally, the Global Coordinator for Climate Change at SNV, a not-for-profit international development organisation, and Pablo Pacheco, Principal Scientist at the Centre for International Forestry Research.

    COP stands for Conference Of the Parties and is the governing body of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC).
