We are pleased to celebrate the International Day of Co-operatives this Saturday 2nd of July and thank all the co-op members that contributed to the results of our Olam Livelihood Charter and Corporate Responsibility and Sustainability (CR&S) report. The International Day of Co-operatives is a global event that promotes the movement’s successes and ideals of international solidarity, economic efficiency, equality, and peace.

100 million people around the world are employed by co-operatives, whilst 800 million are members of one. Of the 4 million smallholders in Olam’s global supply chain, a quarter are members of co-operatives in the developing world. We also support over 6,500 farming co-operatives through our Olam Livelihood Charter.

At Olam, we value co-operatives’ contribution to sustainable economic, social and environmental development and thank all of our co-op partners for their efforts. Find out more in our new CR&S report.

Highlighting the beneficial impact co-operative business models can have on the economy and development, this year’s theme is “Co-operatives: the power to act for a sustainable future”.
