    Transcending Boundaries through political trust and good governance

    In our newest Transcending Boundaries contribution, Chimdessa Tsega, public policy student at the National University of Singapore, LKY School of Public Policy and Olam Scholar, discusses the notion of trust and good governance in sub-Saharan Africa.

    Political trust matters because it is not only the foundation upon which legitimate and sustainable government is founded, but also necessary to create a favourable business environment and drive economic growth. However, corruption remains the biggest threat to African economic transformation. To truly gain the trust of their populations and drive growth, argues Chimdessa, the governments of sub-Sarahan Africa need to understand that reforms against corruption are not threats to their power, but rather a pathway to truly legitimate and sustainable power.
