    Sunny Verghese speaks today at Climate Action 2016 in Washington, DC

    Sunny Verghese, Co-Founder and Group CEO, Olam, will speak today at Climate Action 2016 on ‘catalysing climate smart land use for a sustainable future’ at 10am EDT / 3pm BST.

    Mr Verghese will be joined by fellow panellists Ms. Maria Fernanda Mejia, President, Kellogg’s Latin America, Mr. David Brand, CEO, New Forests Asset Management, H.E. Mr. Tom Vilsack, Secretary of Agriculture of the United States and moderator Dr. Celine Herweijer, PwC, Global Climate Change Leader, Sustainability and Climate Change. The session will be chaired by Global Environment Facility, World Business Council for Sustainable Development and We Mean Business.

    The session will be streamed live on the Climate Action 2016 website.

    An initiative by the United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon, the Climate Action 2016 multi-stakeholder summit is taking place two weeks after the signing ceremony of the Paris Agreement, and eight months after the adoption of the Sustainable Development Goals by all the governments of the world.  It serves to strengthen the multi-stakeholder approach to climate implementation. In particular, deepening and expanding the action coalitions of government, business, finance, philanthropy, civil society and academic leaders launched at the UN Secretary-General’s Climate Summit 2014 in New York, and since then developed through the Lima to Paris Action Agenda.
