Olam unveils comprehensive and transparent new online view of the business

    Press release

Olam International Ltd., a leading global agricultural products and food ingredients company, today unveils its new web site with an extensive suite of resources available to access online at www.olamgroup.com.

“As well as being a business to business brand serving more than 11,600 customers globally, Olam is committed to communicating its stance as a company that grows responsibly, both in terms of its financial results and the products it sources, grows and processes. Olam’s new web site reflects both the scale of the business and our commitment to transparency in the supply chain,” said Briony Mathieson, Head of Corporate and Sustainability Communications.

Olam is best known as an agricultural supply chain business, but it has embraced an innovative adjacency business model that has seen it move upstream into farming, midstream into processing and downstream into branded goods through organic growth and acquisitions. The new web site provides comprehensive information on all of these areas. Upstream businesses featured include palm (Roundtable Sustainable Palm Oil New Planting Procedures followed) and rubber plantations in Africa; and the development of tropical forest concessions (Forestry Stewardship Council® certified) in The Republic of Congo. Examples of businesses in the midstream include sugar milling and refining in India and Indonesia; and tomato paste manufacturing in California while downstream businesses include the Packaged Foods Business division which manufactures, markets and sells a range of branded packaged food products to consumers across multiple African markets.

In addition to comprehensive Investor Relations information, the updated website also offers a new Sustainability section outlining how Olam builds sustainable supply chains and consumer friendly facts about the scale and size of the business in a Facts and Snippets section:

    • For every 8 chocolate bars consumed in the world, 1 is made from cocoa beans handled by Olam.
    • The quantity of rice handled by Olam annually could feed the entire population of Africa for a week.
    • The amount of peanuts processed by Olam is enough to make 7,610,626,992 peanut butter sandwiches.
    • Olam produces enough wool to make 40 million suits a year.
    • Olam produces enough cotton to provide everyone in the world with 3 pairs of socks each year.
