Statement from Congolaise Industrielle des Bois (CIB) regarding FSC® certification

    Press release

Following a routine annual audit of the FSC® certificates for its Forest Management Units (FMUs) of approximately 1.3 million hectares in the Republic of Congo (Brazzaville), Olam International’s subsidiary, Congolaise Industrielle des Bois (CIB), is making customers aware of the suspension of one certificate covering the Pokola/Kabo FMU.  The FSC® certificate for the Loundoungou/Toukoulaka FMU is unaffected.

CIB has held FSC® certificates in the Republic of Congo for eight years. However, in this instance, CIB recognises that some more work needs to be done in certain areas and, in line with the company’s commitment to FSC® certification, has already started taking effective steps to ensure that the Pokola/Kabo FSC® certificate is reinstated without undue delay.

CIB would like to reiterate that all wood products shipped from its Loundoungou/Toukoulaka FMU are still FSC® certified and that wood products shipped from all CIB FMUs are fully compliant with the EU Timber Regulations and Lacey Act.
